Our history
13th May 1999
Our first day of operation; we started with 6 Neoplan coaches. Our purpose was to serve the Japanese market.
2001
We opened our services to the general incoming tourist market and doubled our fleet to 12 coaches.
2004
Our first Mercedes Setra coaches arrived.
2006
We opened a new operating centre and Engineering workshop. Our fleet grew to 20 coaches.
2007
We bought Stanley McKay coaches in Bonnyrigg, Edinburgh and set up the City Circle Edinburgh branch. We expanded from 6 to 10 coaches in Edinburgh.
2008
Our commercial Engineering business opened for the first time. We took delivery of 10 new Mercedes Setra coaches in two batches of 5
2012
During the London 2012 Olympics, we were the only company to work directly with a sponsor. We had 24 coaches fully branded for Panasonic and 2 for Pon.
2013
We decided to venture into the American market, winning contracts with Gate 1, Globus & Tauck.
May 2013
During the Champions League final, we operated 18 fully wrapped coaches for Heineken.
2014
By 2014, our whole fleet (across both London and Edinburgh) was running at Euro 6. We ordered 48 Scania Irizar coaches to be delivered over 3 years.
2015
It was the Rugby World Cup. Coaches were in high demand over this period, so we operated services for a number of sponsors and spectators.
2017
We placed our largest order to date, ordering 60 Scania Irizar coaches to be delivered over a 3-year period.
2018
We moved into a new purpose-built, state-of-the-art premises, including 4 bay workshop facility, a fully fitted test lane and became agents for Irizar, Hispacold and Yutong.
2020
This is when we took delivery of our 100th Scania Irizar. The fleet peaked at 64 coaches, combined across London and Edinburgh.
July 2021
City Circle provided coaches for UEFA for the 2020 Euros that were postponed due to the COVID pandemic, including taking England to the Final.
September 2021
We operated coaches on behalf of Nike to celebrate Emma Raducanu winning the US Open Tennis Championships.
2022 to Present
Working hard to rebuild the company post COVID, readapting to a changed market and getting back to full capacity.
2023
We ordered another 60 Scania Irizar coaches to be delivered over the next 3 years.
July 2024
A celebration of our 25th Year and our most successful year to date.
2025
Our Edinburgh branch moved to a larger premises in Livingston.
